Bishop Now Accepting Pre-K Applications
The Bishop Walker School for Boys (BWS) currently accepting applications for September 2008's Pre K class. Space is limited so we encourage parents to apply early. BWS, which is a school of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, is tuition-free for all eligible students.

The Anacostia 14th Street Park Revitalization Committee Report

This park was known as Logan Park of Uniontown in 1913. A special group of people with the "same heart" met and formed a community of friends to revitalize this park. Here is how the story unfolds.
- Pre-Sept 2004: Request for proposal to improve the park by the TKF Foundation.
- September 2004: Proposal submitted to TKF with a $40K request to improve the park.
- Key Stakeholders: Rev. Dr. William B. Lewis, Rector (St. Philip the Evangelist Episcopal Church), Yvocka D. Young, Executive Director, Main Street Anacostia, Inc.
- Stakeholders: MainStreet Anacostia, Inc. Frederick Douglass Commmunity Improvement Council, Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8A, Anacostia Coordinating Council,DC Office of Plannning, DC Department of Transportation, Anacostia Garden Club, DC Commission on the Arts, Green Spaces, ReStore DC, Ward 8 Residents, TKF.
- Committee Members: Mrs. Carolyn Gray, Mrs. Freida Murray, Yovocka Young, James Ballard, Marie Zackrie-Hall, Father William B. Lewis, Mary Wyatt.
- February 2005: TKF Foundation awarded St. Philip the Evangelist. Episcopal Churcha grant of $10,000 to support a planning charrette for the Revitalizationof the 14th StreetPark in Anacostia.
- September 2005: "Call for Architect" issued by the committee.
- January 2006: Selection made by committee -Lee & Associates.
- October 2006: Received $250, 000 funding commitment from TKF Foundation.
- October 2007: Received $100, 000 funding commitment from Councilman Harry Thomas Jr., Chairman of Park & Recreation Committee
Where are we now?
Stakeholders have obtained financial and product/services commitment of $658,000.00 of the total budget ($758,000.00) needed for completion of the project.Project completion target date is October 2008.
